Tour and workshop to discover the outdoor mosaic of the Saint Mark’s basilica
We will start with a walking in Saint Mark’s square, where the guide will explain how Venice was built, and how the Saint Mark’s area was originally; she will talk about how the history of the basilica and explain the mosaics of the façade. During the short walking, kids will discover some hidden places in Venice. We will finish with a visit to an atelier of mosaics, located at 20 minutes from the basilica, where kids, followed by the team, will make one mosaic, which they will take away at the end. So, first they will start from the sketch, and then they will pass to the application, using the marteline.
Kids will discover how Venice was built, and how the Saint Mark’s area was originally, a higly symbolic place of the Serene republic. They will see the origins of the basilica, its evolution and they will discover the difference among the mosaics located in the façade. During the short walking, kids will discover some hidden places in Venice.
